we need more women in comedy →
Splitsider featured an article by Sarah Schneider about the (downright disappointing) numbers of women in comedy writing.  I may not be sitting in any sitcom writers’ rooms yet, but I can speak personally to how few women are writing comedy.  As an intern at The Onion I was one of two female interns in a group of 8, and we were among only 5 women in the entire office of what seemed like 50. ...

flavor flav's fast food chicken? →
In an interesting news item, rapper/reality star/wall-clock-necklace-wearer Flavor Flav is opening a fried chicken place in Clinton, Iowa.  In the scheme of rappers and hip-hop artists to open food service outposts, I’d much rather eat somewhere credited to a person who goes by Flavor Flav than, say, Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Literal New Yorker Captions →
The Monkeys You Ordered is a hilarious blog of New Yorker cartoons with very literal captions.  Even funnier than I expected.

to my husband →
A group of bloggers created a hilarious parody of the supremely stupid and cheesy blog, To My Wife, that some guy started.  I can only hope that it lasts far longer than the original. (found via coketalk)

never said about restaurant websites →
Eater National pointed me to this hilarious tumblr with which I could not agree more.  Do you ever visit restaurant websites (I long ago abandoned them in favor of menupages—which has super cute cartoons on the pages and features every menu from Locanda Verde to Subway).  Anyway, it’s spot on and easy to imagine/remember the internet atrocities that each post discusses.
