this week's winners and losers
Winners: -Food Network because now Cablevision will carry it again as well as the sister channel HGTV.  Also, who has Cablevision? -Aziz Ansari because his stand-up DVD Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening is super funny and apparently doing well. -Roe vs Wade for going strong for 37 years today. Losers: -Massachusetts/maybe America -My eyes for having to process exactly what I’m looking...

I don’t have a twitter account, which I guess implies that I don’t follow anyone.  I do, however, read Brevity is the Soul of Witstream every few hours.

this week's winners and losers
Winners -Conan O’Brien for not just bending over and taking it from NBC and Jay Leno.  Extra points for Jimmy Kimmel jumping to his defense on Jay. -New Jersey for making a comeback after last week’s gay marriage debacle by legalizing medical marijuana.  Apparently you can get high but not married. -Project Runway because the move to Lifetime may have mattered less than the move to Los...

Comedy Central seems to be coming to its senses in terms of quality programming.  Hopefully we have bypassed the ‘man with terrifying puppets and awful jokes’ phase for the network and are entering one of actual comedy.  So far 2010 has been a great year for Comedy Central, mostly because there hasn’t been enough time to launch crappy shows.  One thing it has done very right is...

Domino’s Pizza has been marketing the hell out of their ‘new’ pizza recipe that came about, according to ads, from people not actually liking their pizza.  Bold move from the pizza delivery chain to badmouth their own product on an ad that airs roughly every 23 minutes.  They claim to have added more herbs to the sauce and shredded cheese (that’s actually their emphasis,...

MTV has made a spectacle of the Jersey Shore.  Perhaps it’s time the network looks to another culturally and geographically isolated group on the east coast.   My suggestion: Jews on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.  The most promiscuous character will go by Schtuppi.

this week's winners and losers
Winners: -Lost because the fate of the Oceanic 815ers is clearly more important than any national issues the president will address. -The Simpsons for lasting twenty years on television and still being funny (Ed-Fine, funnIER than the average primetime comedy). -James Franco because he adds a level of humor to soap operas unlike anyone else (also, he’s dreamy, he will always be a...

Daily Candy emails have gotten out of control to the point where I’ve questioned whether the free email subscription is even worth it anymore (one more how-to video about pilates or shiny hair and I will light my computer on fire). Today, however, they sent out an email about Death Bear.  New Yorkers can contact Death Bear to come to their apartment and rid them of any remnants of bad...

I love The Wire (but am shockingly new to it despite growing up near Baltimore and loving a good, premium cable, one-hour drama).  I also love classic literature and coffee.  It was shocking to learn that I could have all three with Carte Noire’s Coffee Break.  Drinking coffee while Dominic West reads Lady Chatterly’s Lover is a treat.

NBC has been in the news quite a bit recently, though probably not as much as it should be.  A few weeks ago GE confirmed the sale of NBC Universal to Comcast, though there wasn’t much chatter about the merger considering what a huge change this will be for the entertainment network.  After getting over the initial worry of “What will 30 Rock do without all of the microwave...
